Top 5 Must-Visit Dausa Tourist Places for Everyone

Dausa is home to many famous tourist attractions, but a few of them stand out from the others because of their historic significance and cultural heritage. Here are 7 must visit Dausa tourist places for everyone who may be coming to the town for first time:

#1. Lotwara Fort

Located in the Lotwara village of Dausa, the Lotwara Fort is an 18th-century fort built by Thakur Ganga Singh Rajput of Bikaner. Besides offering you a glimpse of the royal heritage of that time, it can also offer you a glimpse of the peacocks, as the village of Lotwara is home to a sizable peacock population. It’s also next to the Banganga river, which according to the Hindu epic Mahabharata, was created by Arjun to protect the people of the region from a water crisis.

#2. Bhandarej

Known as Bhadrawati during the Mahabarata era, Bhandarej is only 10 km away from Dausa. It’s an excavation site known for its excavated sculptures, walls with decorative lattice work, a step well known as the Bhandarez Baori, and a palace. All these attractions were built in the 11th century by the Kachhawaha dynasty founder Dulha Rai, and they beautifully depict the craftsmanship and cultural legacy of that era.

#3. Chand Baori (Step Well), Abhaneri

Built in the 8th century by King Chandra of the Nikumbha Dynasty, Chand Baori is one of the deepest and largest step wells in India. With over 3,500 steps that cascade all the way down to 13 stories, this step well is an ancient engineering marvel. It’s located in the Abhaneri village of Dausa district, which puts it about 35 km away from the main town of Dausa, but makes it easily accessible with a 45-minute drive.

#4. Harshat Mata Temple

Adjacent to the Chand Baori in Abhaneri is the Harshat Mata Temple (also spelt Harshad instead of Harshat) in the same Abhaneri village of Dausa. Like Chand Baori, this temple is also an ASI-protected monument built in the 8th century by the same ruler who built the step well. Built on a raised platform with intricate designs engraved in stone, it provides another glimpse into the architectural brilliance of that era.

#5. Khawaraoji Fort

Located in the Khwarawji Village, the Khawaraoji Fort is a 17th-century fort built by Thakur Karan Singh Rao in 1653 CE. Surrounded by the Amol Ghati and scenic Aravalli mountain range, this fort offers a panoramic view of Dausa’s natural beauty. Located around 27 km from Dausa, it is easily accessible with a 45-minute drive from the town. Unlike some of the other places on our list that require a ticket, this fort offers a ticket-free entry.
